CO2 Laser Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing reduces or eliminates wrinkles around the eyes. Resurfacing removes the top layer of the skin and gently tightens the underlying dermis without an incision. The healing process following the laser treatment also induces regeneration of new collagen returning the skin to a younger tighter state with fewer wrinkles. It also eliminates sun damage spots and freckles.

Dr. Pacheco has selected the Ultra Pulse 5000 CO2 laser for skin resurfacing. The target skin can be accurately tightened while avoiding treatment to the surrounding skin. In contrast to other CO2 lasers, this laser delivers just the right amount of energy regardless of focus or treatment distance. This feature is crucial, because it minimizes the risk of scarring by ensuring the proper depth of treatment every time. In addition, this laser can also be used as a cutting tool facilitating eyelid surgery and removal of certain skin lesions which can be accomplished safely and with less bruising and swelling than before.

Who may benefit?

Laser resurfacing is most effective for the treatment of wrinkles, excess skin, bulges under the lower eyelids and scars, including acne scars. Some of these conditions are treated by deep chemical peels and/or dermabrasion, but with less accurate predictability. In addition to being precise, laser resurfacing produces a new layer of collagen and elastic tissue, actually returning some of the youthful layers to your skin. If you are undergoing eyelid lift surgery, the procedure may be performed entirely with the laser, offering superior results and less swelling/bruising than with traditional surgery.

What conditions can be treated by the CO2 Laser?

  • Excess upper and lower skin folds
  • Lower eyelid wrinkles and crows feet
  • Fullness of the upper and lower eyelids (bags)
  • Creases of the lip and around the mouth/chin
  • Eyelid and facial lesions
  • Pigmented spots or sun-damaged skin
