IPL Photorejuvenation - What to Expect

Patients are asked to arrive with a freshly washed face and wearing no makeup or lotion.
At the time of the treatment: A cool gel is applied over the area of treatment and laser goggles are placed on the eyes for protection. The pulses of light are then applied continuously until the entire area has been treated. This process usually takes roughly thirty (30) minutes. Each pulse produces a slight sensation, much like that of a tiny rubber band snap, which is tolerated without the use of anesthesia. At the end of the treatment a sun block is applied and the patient is instructed to protect the treated area from the sun for the following three to four weeks.

After the treatment, one may expect mild redness to occur, like that following a facial. One may immediately apply makeup to the treated area if it is desired. There is no downtime after this treatment and the patient may immediately resume normal activities. The treatments are scheduled about three to four weeks apart until the desired endpoint is achieved (averaging five to six treatments.) Maintenance treatments are also recommended two to three times a year for longer lasting results. In the end, a glowing, more youthful face can be achieved in a safe, gentle manner.
