Pain-free Botox

Patients should arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled treatment to initiate numbing. An anesthetic cream is applied to the skin in the area to be injected. The cream greatly improves the comfort of the treatment. Botox is then injected using the smallest and finest of needles in evenly-spaced doses along the targeted muscle(s). Ice may be applied after treatment if the patient desires, although swelling is minimal, if any, and bruising rare. Patients should avoid exercise, massage or vigorous manipulation of the treated areas to keep the drug where it is placed.

How soon should I see results?

The treatment effect becomes noticeable over the next three to six days, until the muscle(s) treated are maximally weakened. There is no numbness associated, just muscle weakening. More than one session may be required to obtain the desired results.

Are there risks ?

Side effects are rare and temporary. These include bruising, pain beyond the time of injection, drooping of the upper eyelid, and difficulty closing the eyes. These risks are very infrequent with Dr Pacheco’s conservative approach and over ten years experience.

Restylane or Botox - should I choose?

Although Restylane and Botox work well together in many instances, they are not interchangeable. Restylane is a cosmetic filler, which adds fullness and volume to the skin in an area of unwanted folds or wrinkles visible at rest, while Botox works by weakening the muscles that cause unwanted expression lines. Lines that form by frowning or by wrinkling of the eyes require Botox, since they are lines of muscle action or expression. Lines that are seen when the face is relaxed or at rest, such as the folds between the corners of the nose and the mouth, require Restylane. At times, Botox and Restylane must be combined to attain optimal smoothness. Both are necessary in the case of some frown lines, where together they create a smoother, longer lasting result.
